This month, we’re heading across the pond to meet Sarah M., a Texas-based handbag lover whose collection blends modern icons with classic investment pieces. From her first Louis Vuitton to her dream Dior, Sarah’s journey reminds us why luxury is as much about emotion as it is about craftsmanship.
How old were you when you bought your first designer handbag?
I was 25 when I bought my first Louis Vuitton Neverfull MM. I’d just received a promotion at work and decided it was time to treat myself. I still remember walking into the boutique - that smell of leather, the excitement - and thinking, this is it.
It was more than just a bag; it was a milestone. And the best part? I still use it all these years later.
Tell us about it - was it love at first sight, or is there a story behind it?
It was absolutely love at first sight. I’d admired the Neverfull for years - it felt like the bag every “put-together” woman had. When I finally bought it, I felt that same confidence. It’s travelled with me everywhere: work trips, brunches, even vacations. It’s aged beautifully thanks to my Havre de Luxe essentials - I protect the Vachetta handles religiously with Water & Stain Guard!
What’s your most treasured handbag in your collection?
That has to be my Chanel Mini Rectangular in lambskin. I bought it on a weekend trip to New York for my 30th birthday. My husband helped me choose the colour - classic black, of course - and it honestly felt like a core memory.
The lambskin is buttery soft, so I make sure to condition it every few months with the Nourishing Conditioner and store it on its Luxe Pink Towel to keep it pristine. It’s sentimental and timeless, all in one little bag.
What’s the one bag on your wish list that you’ve been dreaming of adding to your collection?
The Dior Lady D-Joy in Latte. There’s something about its structure and simplicity that I adore. It’s understated yet so elegant.
Have you ever sold a bag and regretted it?
Oh, definitely. My biggest regret is selling my Louis Vuitton Pochette Métis in reverse monogram. It was so practical, but I convinced myself I didn’t need it because I already had a few crossbody styles. Every time I see someone carrying one, I get a little pang of regret!
What’s your go-to handbag for everyday use?
I still reach for my Neverfull. It’s the ultimate all-rounder - spacious, light, and easy to care for. I love that I can keep a mini care kit inside with Cleansing Wipes and Pursefume Capsules - they’ve saved me more than once from coffee spills and handbag odours.
If you could only keep one bag from your collection, which one would it be and why?
It would be my Chanel Mini. It’s such a special piece and has so many memories attached to it. Plus, it’s the perfect size - day or night.
What’s your favourite luxury brand?
That’s tough, but I’d have to say Chanel. There’s something about the heritage, the quilting, the craftsmanship… it’s iconic.
Which Havre de Luxe product is your absolute favourite?

Lastly, do you have one piece of advice you'd share with our luxe-loving community about building or caring for a designer bag collection?
Don’t wait until your bag “needs” care - start early. A light cleanse and protect routine every few months keeps your collection looking its best. And always, always store your bags properly tissue inside, dust bag on, no plastic.
